Card of the Week - 6/11/14

There are a few players whose cards I am looking forward to seeing in the 2014 set.  Rookies like Jose Abreu and George Springer.  The last Derek Jeter and Paul Konerko.  One player whose card is going to be interesting in 2014 plays for my team, the Minnesota Twins.  At last check, he was fourth in votes for his position, behind some of the biggest names at his position (although the case can be made that he has outperformed them all).  That player is...
...Brian Dozier.  He is currently leading AL second basemen in RBI, HR, SLG, OPS, BB, and R, and is second in SB.  Last year, he had the highest Range Factor among AL second basemen, and is currently leading this year in that category as well.  Because he isn't named Cano, Pedroia, or Kinsler, he isn't getting the votes necessary to be the starter, which he deserves at this point in the season.

Some players out there will probably consider taking Dozier in their draft.  He is a great 2B option for hitting lower in the order.  You get good speed and good fielding, with an above-average chart for an OB 6.  Definitely worthy of consideration in your draft, and more than worthy to get voted in as All Star game starter here in Minnesota this year.

  1. Don't worry I'm not biased I voted for him to start the All Star game!
