#ShotsFriday: Stadiums

We may have another streak on our hands. It is only a matter of time before cream rises to the top. @Tomwyliehart found his fourth shot with Chris Davis. This would be Chris Davis’s second shot of the year. With any luck he will have a bunch more and earn himself something close to that Mark McGwire 2000 card (which @Tomwyliehart created and I have coveted for almost a decade and a half now). With that we hope you all decide to join in our little game by tweeting in 1 player you believe will homer this Friday. Then sit back and enjoy work with your favorite work appropriate beverage knowing a great weekend of baseball is about to start.

MLB Showdown: Custom Cards

One of our great fans who for the moment is twitter-less I believe has commissioned 10 new cards to be added to the MLB Showdown world. We have seen what can happen when someone goes and makes 10 of their favorite players from their favorite team. The Seattle Mariner’s greats are still on the blog for everyone to enjoy. They are joined now with the inevitable. Someone has unleashed the titans. These are 10 of the greatest seasons ever and thus 10 of the greatest Showdown cards ever.

Babe Ruth 1927- It was only a matter of time before someone requested one of the legendary seasons in baseball history. From 1927 till 1961 this was viewed as maybe the most prestigious record in all of sports. Even to the point where some did not regard Roger Maris’s 1961 season as a legitimate heir. Little did they know then that McGwire would hold it in 1998 with even more controversy and Bonds in 2001 would have even more controversy. Enough about them, let’s give the Babe his due. The most impressive stat to me about that season? Maris, McGwire and Bonds had 6 combined triples in their record breaking season’s. Babe Ruth had 8 in 1927. He earned himself the most powerful card in existence with only Maris 61, Mcgwire 98, Sosa 98 and Bonds 01 have a chance to tie this level(the WotC card is based on 2000 stats). This guy is obviously an animal getting on base and hitting more homers than anyone.

#ShotsFriday: Stadiums

There were only 14 homers hit last Friday in 15 games. Needless to say no one was able to run into any of the power. Hopefully you guys will have more luck picking who will go deep this Friday. @Jamesmruffin is tied with the lead on the Twitter-board with 3. All three of his blasts have been from Carlos Beltran who leads the player board with 3. @Tomwyliehart is also tied with 3 after another impressive streak. Remember to tweet in who you think will homer this Friday using our hashtag #shotsfriday. Enjoy the rest of the day listening to pump up music and enjoying your favorite work appropriate beverages.

MLB Showdown: Hall of Fame

We had another interesting move this past week for #shotsfriday. @Tomwyliehart pulled it off yet again for the third straight week going deep. He actually forfeited his Miguel Cabrera pick to pick up Puig from the Dodgers. That puts him tied for the lead with 3 and gives him 1 for Puig. Remember the reward this year is going to be 3 custom cards of your choosing for winning. I am also saying 2 customs for second place and 1 for third place. Remember to send in your votes for who you think will hit a homer this Friday on twitter or in the comments and enjoy some fist pumping music and your favorite work appropriate beverage.

#ShotsFriday: Stadium Cards

Everybody consider yourselves warned. @Tomwyliehart, owner of our longest consecutive shot streak with 8 is at it again. He has his second shot getting Miguel Cabrera his first and @Tomwyliehart’s his second. I would also like to mention that @KyleJohnson1127  did get robbed as shown here http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=27624657. Hope everyone is able to send in their picks today and enjoy this Friday with some long balls and some work appropriate beverages.

We just finished our 20 managers for our first strategy card set last week. We no showing off our first 5 stadium cards for you guys to enjoy. An interesting part of baseball is that of the 4 major American sports it is the only one that does not have a uniform playing surface. Many of us would like to see how Showdown could possibly incorporate this. The next question is how will they work?

MLB Showdown 2012 Fan Custom Cards

One of our treats we offer around here is if our fans get sets from us we allow them to make some custom historic cards if they so choose. In that instance we like to pass on our creations to you the fans to see what was made. Last week showed off half of the Mariners greats which we created. This week we will show off the other half of the collection.

Alex Rodriguez 1996: If you want to find a good MLB Showdown card I recommend you start with Alex Rodriguez. This guy already had a slew of amazing Showdown cards. His 8, 15-20 HR speed A 2000 card, His 10, 18-20 HR 2001 card is great but looks like a bum next to his 10, 17-20 HR 2001P card. He also has a 10, 17-20 HR third base 2009 card. This guy doesn’t need another great card…but we will give him another. How about the great 1996 year? He earned himself a 10, speed A (20), 18-20 HR, 14-17 2B, 13 1B+ for a SS+3. For 680 points you are getting an all-around producer. The question is if he is worth while? Not sure yet but he will post great stats for himself.
