#ShotsFriday: Stadiums
There were only 14 homers hit
last Friday in 15 games. Needless to say no one was able to run into any of the
power. Hopefully you guys will have more luck picking who will go deep this
Friday. @Jamesmruffin is tied with the lead on the Twitter-board with 3. All
three of his blasts have been from Carlos Beltran who leads the player board
with 3. @Tomwyliehart is also tied with 3 after another impressive streak.
Remember to tweet in who you think will homer this Friday using our hashtag
#shotsfriday. Enjoy the rest of the day listening to pump up music and enjoying
your favorite work appropriate beverages.
The Ballpark in
Arlington- If a player gets on base 3 times in a row +1 to his swings till
he records an out is a pretty humble benefit. This is obviously going to
benefit high OB line-ups, Moneyball and Pingers. This is a somewhat rare feat
but it is a neat way to get a slugfest going. If you have two players go 3 for
3 you likely are facing tired pitchers and have a pair of +1s in the bank. Pair
this card with the Bob Melvin Manager card and you could really do some damage.
Yankee Stadium- Maybe
more useful than the previous stadium, Yankee Stadium allows for fans to really
harass players. Sadly sometimes those will be your own players. If you have a
pitching heavy team you have a chance to punish people. Throw in a couple
fortunate K on the hitters chart and you could really make some small mistakes
pay. You may see people having to pinch hit for key players late in the game
because they sport a -1 or -2. I think this one could lead to some great games.
Nationals Park- Let
me say that I think the presidential race is not only a fantastic play on words
but also the most entertaining 7th inning stretch in baseball. This
card is quirky and exciting. You get the chance to steal a card from your
opponent. They also get the chance to steal a card from you. It also hurts you
if you carry all offense or all defense strategy cards. I hope people get to
play this one.
Oakland Coliseum- Now
there are some beautiful ballparks out there to enjoy a game at. The Coliseum
is not one of those places. It is also a cow pasture. You get a chance to take
those long odds big damage hits off the board. You also could discard 5 cards
and see the exact same result happen. It is probably a more useful card in
theory than in practice. I still imagine some people will enjoy playing with
this.
Petco Park- Here
is another cow pasture. As you would expect discard cards, roll some dices and
hope your guys field well enough to help you out. The trick like most stadiums
is how do you benefit the most and not let your opponent capitalize too much.
First your starters don’t need to be too afraid of doubles on their charts. Two
maybe find batters with small doubles. It is an odd card but I think it is well
made ad interesting.
