Card of the Week - 4/8/15

Baseball season is back!  I spent almost all day on Monday watching baseball, from the Twins @ Tigers, to the Angels @ Mariners, saw Jimmy Rollins give the Dodgers the lead late....it was just an exciting day overall.

One of the players of the day for Opening Day was one of the players who switched teams in the offseason.  He had a great day for his new team, going 3-3 with 3 XBH (2 doubles, 1 triple) and two RBI.  And that player is...

...Seth Smith.  This is the 4th OB 10 player for the Padres, with Ryan Klesko (00P), Adrian Gonzalez (09, 10), and Chase Headley (11,12) as the others.

Now, I am not saying that this is all that great of a card.  Not a lot of power, lots of outs, and singles late.  But a 17+ XBH for an OB 10 is respectable, hence the 360 point cost.  For the Mariners to have the year that some expect them to have (2/3 of the votes in last week's poll picked the Mariners to win the AL West), Smith will have to put up stats for a similar card in 2015.  So far, he is off to a good start.  #PlayForTheCard
