MLB Showdown Cards

Last week of #ShotsFriday for the year. It has been a fantastic year and we appreciate all of your support thus far. We are hoping to have some updates over the summer but we will be mostly focusing on completing our 2013 set. We feel like we are ahead of pace for our January first goal. There will be updates on that front. As usual we plan to start unveiling charts at the beginning of Spring Training and hoping to end at the end of next year's regular season. @TheRealJohnR found his second shot of the year with Freddie Freeman's first of the year. Currently @Tomwyliehart is looking great to get his 3 custom cards with 10 shots on the year. @Chris_Roth is looking like a lock for second place with his 5 shots and 2 cards. @Roktikitiki is in third place with 4 shots for a single card. Myself, Jamesmruffin and BucNforthecard all have 3 shots and need to find one this week to earn a split of the single card and a @Roktikitiki shutout. We will see how that ends out. We have been trying to change how strategy cards have been used in MLB Showdown for a long time now. One small off season mission for us is to come up with a new 150 card strategy set (50 offense, 40 defense and 10 utility card, 20 managers, 20 stadiums, 10 leave on the players). Here is our rough list of offensive thoughts. For needs the code is as follows: B means play before pitch, D means discarding a card is needed.

Momentum	B, D	+1 to swing til an out is recorded with an additional +1 to each swing for each consecutive hit or walk
Fuel on the fire	B	+1 to the swing for each run scored this inning
Swing for the fences	B	+2 to the swing if the result is a walk change the result to a strike out
Take what is given (5)	B	+2 to the swing if the result is a homer change the result to a single
Change sides	B	If the batter bats S then add +2 to the swing
Favorable Match up	B	If the batter bats R or S and the pitcher is LHP then add +2 to the swing
Play the percentages	B	If the batter bats L or S and the pitcher is RHP then add +2 to the swing
Clutch Hitting	B	+2 to the swing if runner is in scoring position
Ducks on the ponds (10)	B	+1 to the swing for each runner on base
Ball 4	B	If the last batter walked the swing receives +1 and if the result would be a PU then reroll
Ball 8	B	If the last 2 batters walked the swing receives +2 and if the result would be a SO or PU the player may reroll it once
Ball 12 (13)	B	If the last 3 batters walked the swing receives +3 and if the batter reaches base the pitcher receives -1 IP
Bad Call	D	If the result was a strike out reroll the swing
Turn on it (15)	D	If the batter is L or S and the pitcher is RHP reroll the swing
Pull the ball	D	If the batter is R or S and the pitcher is LHP reroll the swing
Veteran Hitter	D	If the batter is onbase 9 or higher and recorded an out with the advantage reroll the swing
Banjo Hitter		If the batter is onbase 8 or lower and recorded an out with the advantage
Slap hitter	B	If the batter would strike out reroll the swing, all outs recorded on a reroll are PU, all hits recorded are singles
Seeing eye grounder (20)	B	If the batter would ground out reroll the swing, all outs recorded on a reroll are GB all hits recorded are singles
Blooper	B	If the batter would ground out reroll the swing, All outs recorded on a reroll are FB all hits recorded are singles
Swing at anything (22)	D,D	Reroll a walk result
Baserunning
Runner not held	B	Make a stolen base attempt
Protect the runner	B	Make a stolen base attempt -3 to catcher roll +2 to the next pitch
Professional baserunner (25)	B	If the runner is a pinch runner then -5 to catcher roll
Double steal	B	Make a stolen base attempt of both third and second
First to third		If there is a runner on first and there is a single then the runner on first speed against the outfield defense and a roll
Hit and run (27)	B	On a single batter on first takes third, double runner scores, PU result doulbe play, GB defense makes a fielding check if it passes batter out at first runner safe at second.
When the train is coming through
Sacrifice bunt	B	Batter rolls on the pitchers chart. If the result is a PU or SO then the result stands. Anything else the batter is out at first and all runners advance. Can't be played with a runner on third.
Drag bunt	B	Batter rolls on the pitchers chart if the result is a PU or SO then the result stands. Anything else the defense rolls against the batters speed plus C, 2B and 1B fielding.
Push Bunt (30)	B	Batter rolls on the pitchers chart if the result is a PU or SO then the result stands. Anything else the defense rolls against the batters speed plus C, 3B and 1B fielding.
Suicide Squeeze	B	The batter rolls on the pitchers chart with a runner on third. If the result would be a PU, SO or walk the result stands and the runner on third is out. If the result would be a GB or FB the runner on third scores and batter is out, if the result would be a hit the runner on third scores and batter is safe.
Texas Leaguer	B	If the result would be a FB then the defense rolls against 20 with SS, 2B and CF. If it fails result is a single with no extra base attempts
Deep in the hole	B	If the result would be a GB then the defense rolls against SS, and 1B. If it fails result is a single with no extra base attempts
Deep fly ball (34)	B	If the result would be a FB then runners on first with speed A, second with B and third with C may all advance against outfield defense + roll. Anything higher advance without a throw.
LOSE INNING PITCH
Shell Shocked (35)	D	If the last batter homered the pitcher recieves -1 IP
Rattled	D	If the pitcher allowed 2 runs or more last inning he recieves -1 IP
Rough outing		If the pitcher has allowed 4 runs or more he receives -1 IP
Long counts		If 5 batters have struck out or walked this inning combined the pitcher recieves -1 IP
Split attention		If 4 total bases have been stolen off this pitcher in the game he receives -1 IP
Smacked around (40)		If 6 extra base hits have been hit off this pitcher he receives -1 IP
MINUS TO PITCH
Ask for time	B	The pitch receives -1, if the batter has an on-base of 10 or higher the pitcher receives -2 instead
Loom on deck	B D	For every 100 points the current batter is less than the batter on deck the batter receives +1 to the swing.
Remember me? (43)	B	If this batter homered previously off the pitcher the pitch receives -2
