Card of the Week - 8/27/14

It may be the end of the day, but I can't forget about the Card of the Week.  As I was thinking about who to highlight this week, I wanted to find someone who will have a better card this year than last, but is also in the playoff hunt.  And it really wasn't that hard to find such a card.  What is surprising is this player's 2013 card was already 540 points, so for this player to have an even better card in the 2014 set seems unbelievable, until you see who it is.  It is none other than...

...Felix Hernandez.  Last year, Felix had a good year with a 3.04 ERA, 1.131 WHIP, and a career high 9.5 K/9.  This year, he is putting up ridiculous numbers (keep in mind, he is in his 10th MLB season at the age of 28).  His ERA and WHIP are currently career lows at 2.07 and 0.885, respectively.  His Hits/9 is an amazing 6.4, and he is getting 6 strikeouts for every walk he is allowing.  He is 28 Ks from a career high, and is currently at a career low for BB/9 with 1.6.  Felix has been great for a long time, and we should be seeing a card this year that is truly going to be dominant.
