#ShotsFriday

The race is tightening up at the top. @MLBConnoisseur and @Tomwyliehart went shot for shot if you will the last few weeks to run away with the competition. This week @Tomwyliehart got his pick right with Josh Hamilton going yard for his third shot of the year and @Tomwyliehart's 11th putting him 1 behind @Mlbconnoisseur. Maybe the most impressive part is 8 for 8 in weeks he has picked. Never having a week off. The only other shot belongs to myself. I was fortunate enough to pick A-rod for an A-bomb which came true for his first and my third. Make sure to get your own picks in and get yourself on the board this Friday using #Shotsfriday.

Today we are going to talk about a fun play style for those fans who only root for 1 team religiously. That is the "All-time" structure. There are a few variations of this but they are all fun for those of us who have rooted for a team for an extended period of time. Because I am a Red Sox fan I will use them as the example this week but we may do segments on different teams later on if send me a comment. so here we go.

Uniform Capped- This is the format where you may only use players that are in the team's uniform and you play with a salary cap. So for this example we will stick with the 5,000 point cap. The Red Sox lose the rights to great players like Alan Embree and Mike Timlin who are both 6 relievers but did not have those card's with the Red Sox. Believe it or not they would never have a Johnny Damon or Ellis Burks card. Damon played during the years in the wilderness of Showdown and Burks well before Showdown. Both great outfielders but would not make the cut. The cap makes it tough too because they have a lot of expensive options but a team may look like this.

1B: Adrian Gonzalez 11- 400
2B Dustin Pedroia 10- 380
SS Nomar Garciaparra 01- 480
3B Adrian Beltre 10- 410
C Jason Varitek 10- 90
LF Manny Ramirez 01P- 490
RF Damon Buford 00- 100
CF Darren Lewis 00- 140
DH David Ortiz- 270

SP: Pedro Martinez 01- 700
SP: Ramon Martinez 00- 570
SP: Datsuke Matsuzaka 09- 10
SP: John Lackey 11- 30

Bench Jacoby Ellsburry 09- 64
Bench Victor Martinez 09- 66
Reliever- Jonathon Papelbon 11- 150
Reliever- Tim Wakefield 11- 120
Reliever- John Wasdin 240- 240
Releiver- Rheal Cormier 00- 150
Reliever-Hideki Okajima 09- 150

Because these teams are capped then they are just as difficult to assemble as normal drafts. It is actually much more difficult then a normal single year constructions because you have roughly 100 cards currently to make a team where in a single year you normally would have 600 cards worth of options. This is not a draft type style. Players should have time to adjust teams as they see fit. Also in any league there will be no over lap of cards since players only wear 1 jersey per card. This style is amazingly difficult and leads to very few options sometimes. For example the Red Sox have a max arm at Catcher of +6. This was with a very over priced Jarrod Saltalamachia in 11. It was better to get a nostalgic pick and just assume you will be punished as this team is going to win by mashing. For any suggestions on a team that you would like to see a mock All Time Capped team let me know.

  1. Would love to see you do an all time Pirates team, as well as an all time Yankees team. The all time Pirates team will look better next year I imagine...
