2014 Set: A Few Changes

I hope that everyone has had a great holiday season!  As I sit here watching the NFL playoff picture clear up, I am even more excited about the release of the 2014 MLB Showdown set.  I have reviewed all of the cards and hope to have eliminated all typos, and all cards are ready to be printed and shipped.  If you are interested in a set, please contact @MLBShowdownGuru by email at redsoxman2011@gmail.com.

I also wanted to point out a few of the changes minor style changes we have made in the design of the card.  Below I will compare the 2014 Albert Pujols with the 2013 Albert Pujols.

By looking at the cards, you may be able to notice the changes immediately.  The first one I want to point out is the zoom on the player image.  This was an intentional choice made and I feel looks better on the card.  We also moved the information in the upper right up a little bit to make a little more room for the zoomed-in image.

Secondly, we made an adjustment to the size of the charts.  This makes the chart much clearer when printed out.  The chart was also moved down just a hair to gain a little more space for the player image.

In an attempt to look like the original 2000 cards, we added a numbering system to all of the cards in the lower left corner of the card.  Not necessary, but just a nice addition to the card.

Finally, the font at the top of the card was updated and expanded to also look more like the original card.

So what do you think of the updates?  Let us know in the comments below, or comment on Twitter to @MLBShowdownGuru, @BucNfortheCard, and/or @RokTikiTiki.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  2. Excellent - card numbering and more readable charts! Those were my two main complaints about the 2013 cards. Looks great!

  3. Just curious how other leagues play. Do you use the newly created strategy cards or the ones originally created by Wizkids.

    Thanks in advance.

    2. My league has an extensive ban list, using a combination of custom and original strategy cards. Still trying to work out all the kinks and find a fair and balanced playing field. We will be trying out a dry season with no strategy cards at all this next season.
