#TriviaThursday - January 15th, 2015

Well, @Averey25 was paying attention where I wasn't.  I posted this week's #TriviaThursday, but accidentally set the schedule for it to post at noon on TUESDAY instead of THURSDAY.  It works out because nobody got last week's question correct, so I called the Tuesday post a redo and gave @Averey25 the point.  He did have the first question correct, but missed out on it due to not following rule #3 for #TriviaThursday.  Only 51 more weeks of questions left!  And by the way, Tuesday's question's correct answer was Bobby Thigpen, who had 57 saves in 1990.

This week, I am going to stay in the pitching stats category.  Here is this week's #TriviaThursday question:

#TriviaThursday - January 8th, 2015 REDO

Well, we didn't have a winner for last week's #TriviaThursday.  As a refresher, here is the question:

On December 11, 1959, the Yankees sent Hank Bauer, Don Larsen, Norm Siebern, and Marv Throneberry to Kansas City in exchange for Joe DeMaestri, Kent Hadley, and what other player?
The correct answer was: Roger Maris.  Maris would win the MVP award in his second year in The Bronx in his memorable 61 home run season.

Last night, I got the question ready for this week and accidentally submitted it for today instead of Thursday.  You will find it by clicking the 'Read More' button...

#TriviaThursday - January 8th, 2015

Welcome to the first #TriviaThursday of the year!  Just a reminder of the rules:

1) All questions will be baseball questions, sometimes relating directly to MLB Showdown, but not always.
2) While it is impossible to regulate this, please refrain from using an internet search engine to find the answer.  If you know it, congratulations!  If you have a fairly educated guess, give it a shot.  We ask for your honesty in following this guideline.
3) Twitter answers not including the hashtag #TriviaThursday or not sent to me @RokTikiTiki will not be counted.  Those sent to @MLBShowdownGuru do not count either.

This contest will run the entirety of 2015.  The player with the most points at the end of the year will earn 5 free custom cards.

Below the page break, you will find the question...

Trivia Thursday

As of the writing of this post, the Baseball Hall of Fame results haven't been announced, but from what I have read, Randy Johnson and Pedro Martinez are locks, with John Smoltz and Craig Biggio the next most likely to make it.  I am excited and look forward to hearing who made the 2015 class.

Hall of Fame: Class of 2015

I have been reading a lot about the Baseball Hall of Fame and its upcoming Class of 2015.  Last year, I was ecstatic when my favorite baseball player of all time (which is surprising as a Twins fan) Frank Thomas was elected.  This year, as I looked at the list of candidates, I thought I was looking at a list of the greatest MLB Showdown players from 2000-2001 sets.  I thought I would take a closer look at some of the players.  (Also, feel free to voice your input in the comments or by voting in the poll to the right).

2014 Set: A Few Changes

I hope that everyone has had a great holiday season!  As I sit here watching the NFL playoff picture clear up, I am even more excited about the release of the 2014 MLB Showdown set.  I have reviewed all of the cards and hope to have eliminated all typos, and all cards are ready to be printed and shipped.  If you are interested in a set, please contact @MLBShowdownGuru by email at redsoxman2011@gmail.com.

I also wanted to point out a few of the changes minor style changes we have made in the design of the card.  Below I will compare the 2014 Albert Pujols with the 2013 Albert Pujols.

MLB Showdown 2014: Assembling

All the players have been picked, All the charts are made. Players are pointed. They are set in stone. Which means 1 thing... @Roktikitiki will find nearly two dozen instances where I left a number off a chart when transferring from one form to another. Since none of you actually care at the moment about the messages I get from him about how we don't know if the 15 is supposed to be a single or a double on some 6 OB corner outfielder I will talk about the fun part. The cards and set should be done by the end of the month. Sadly we won't be done in time to print and ship for Christmas/Hanuka/Winter Holiday; however, shortly after that we should be ready to go. For information on the E-mail Redsoxman2011@gmail.com. We do have 2000/2001 booster boxes and 2000 starter boxes in case that is useful to anyone. E-mail us again for those.
The next big thing we have is to set a blog schedule. We will be posting that probably sometime at the end of January. Please use this post, our twitters: @MLBShowdownguru @Roktikitiki, @BucNforthecard or the above e-mail to send us suggestions on content you would like to see.
