If you follow me on Twitter, you may have know that I have taken the best players from 2000, 2001, and 2013 and created a 25-man roster for each of the 30 MLB teams (yes, Expos and Nationals are combined to one team). There are no point limits, so the teams can be pretty amazing. Take the Cleveland Indians, for example: only one non-OB 10 in their starting lineup, and that is OB 9 Travis Fryman ('01). The AL Central is probably the most polarizing division in this format, with the Indians and Tigers near the top of the entire league, and the White Sox, Twins, and Royals all equally bad. And it is from one of these matchups in my season that I discovered how great one of the 2013 cards is.

Card of the Week - 2/19/14
After getting my 2013 MLB Showdown cards in the mail last week, I have been having fun going through them. Yeah, I made all of the cards, but it was just a process of plugging numbers in and I couldn't truly enjoy the cards until I was holding them for myself. And it has been a fun week. I have laughed about how awful the Cubs and Astros were, and marveled at how many great the Red Sox (my least favorite team in the majors, btw) were. So with so many great and interesting cards I saw, going through and picking out a card of the week was a challenge. But I think I found the guy.

Card of the Week - 2/12/14
Sometimes in Showdown, a card just works for you. It doesn't necessarily fit your style of play, but when on your team, that card is just pure awesomeness. For me, I despise having slow guys on my teams. No matter how much a guy can mash, if he is speed C, I don't put him on my team. Unless, that is, he is the Crime Dog.

Card of the Week - 2/5/14
In the aftermath of the Seattle Seahawks drubbing of the Denver Broncos, I was both amazed and encouraged by the number of Facebook/Twitter posts by sportswriters and fans who posted about their excitement for football to be done and for baseball to start. In a time period in America where the NFL gets more and more attention, I am glad to see that 'America's Pastime' hasn't gone the way of Netscape and completely fallen into oblivion. Baseball fans are the greatest fans in the world!

New Year, New Features
It is a month late, but welcome to 2014 everyone! I am very excited for the upcoming season, and it is coming quick as the first pitchers and catchers report in 5 days...
As those of you who are regular visitors to this blog know, we have a new card design coming out with our new set of cards. Well, the design isn't new, as the cards look similar to the 2000 set, but it is new to us. We are already looking at design updates for the 2014 set as well, but we'll wait on that . But we have several other new features for the blog this year that we are excited about.
